Diabetes Awareness in November
Diabetes Youth Wellington

A focus on diabetes awareness runs annually throughout November, with World Diabetes day on November 14. Diabetes Youth Wellington has compiled some resources for use in schools and the community to promote the understanding of Type 1 diabetes.
In November 2020 you can also follow our online awareness campaign #AtoZofType1 on our public facebook page. Share this with your friends and family to help them understand how they support someone with Type 1 Diabetes better.

Hypo / Hyper poster
A poster that helps children understand some of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.

Did you know DYW are a local and independent charity who rely solely on grant funding, donations, and our own fundraising efforts to deliver support across our community? Here are some ideas for how you could help raise funds on our behalf during November:
  • Ask your school if they would run a GO BLUE FOR DIABETES fundraiser - maybe a mufti day gold coin donation.
  • Run a GO BLUE FOR DIABETES baking fundraiser in your workplace - some people could bake, and others could purchase the baking.
Any funds raised can be donated via our givealittle page, or contact us to request our bank account details.
