Fundraising

DYW is a local and independent charity who rely solely on grant funding, donations, and our own fundraising efforts to fund everything we do. We raise funds to run camp and events for our members, to fund our part-time Family Support Officer, and to cover other operating costs.  We target grant funding where we can, but we also need to raise funds in other ways.

There's lots of ways you can help us, such as:
  • Selling tickets for our fundraising events such as quiz nights, and raffles
  • Attending our fundraising events
  • Offering to run your own fundraising event for DYW - maybe a sausage sizzle, or bake sale, or a mufti-day at your school. This could be themed around GO BLUE FOR DIABETES - click here for some handy resources.
  • Sharing our givealittle page with friends and family.

DYW's Family Support Officer provides one-on-one non-medical support within our DYW community, and organises camps and other events.  Thank you Lotteries Commission and Thomas George Macarthy Trust for granting funds towards this critical DYW service.

Winton and Margaret Bear Charitable Trust

(Administered by Trustees Executors).
Our annual DYW Camp is a key priority - the children and teens gain a huge amount of confidence and resilience as a result of camp, and build their own support network with others facing the same daily challenges a diabetes diagnosis brings.
Thanks Winton and Margaret Bear Charitable Trust for granting funds towards DYW Camp 2019 - we appreciate your support.

DYW are excited to be able to provide valuable resources to our members, with the support of a grant from One Foundation. Resources include: Carbohydrate counting books to support learning how to count carbohydrates and more accurately calculate insulin doses; a gentle lancet and test wipes for newly diagnosed packs; Brochures and branded pens to raise awareness of DYW amongst the Wellington community.

We would love to have you join us at an event soon!
